Data Services
The Australian Multimode Network now offers a range of data services for the global Amateur Radio community. Currently, the following services are offered:
44net IPIP addresses
These are IP addresses that are intended to provide services over the Internet or RF to amateurs. The primary purpose is for amateur to amateur services that are relatively isolated from the general Internet, using the Internet as a carrier medium between distant sites. The IP allocation is intended for use in the Bendigo area and surrounding parts of central and northern Victoria. If you live in the target area and have an idea you want to try on air, like UHF/microwave mesh networking or VHF IP over AX.25, please contact me here or via email at [email protected]. If you're outside the target area, I can help you obtain your own IP allocation from ARDC to experiment with, and setup of your gateway.
The IPIP address range hosted at the Australian Multimode Network is routed directly to the 44net BGP and VPN PoP IP allocations via a NAT gateway, which makes services on these IPs more easily accessible. Services hosted on the IPIP subnet can be reached from BGP/PoP space via port forwards on the NAT gateway. There is no provision for general Internet access.
FARPN IRC server
The FARPN IRC server is an amateur only IRC server that forms part of the global FARPN IRC network. This network is reachable only from 44net IP space and may be carried on Amateur Radio frequencies in some areas. To connect to this server, IPIP tunnel users can point their client to irc.vkradio.com, port 6667. Users on BGP/PoP addresses can use irc-pkt.vkradio.com:6667.
