policies and Code of conduct

The Australian Multimode Network is open to all licenced radio amateurs.  However, there are a few rules:

Policies

Due to the network forming parts of multiple different networks, site based policies are deliberately kept to a minimum.  However, there are two key principles, based on mutual respect.

1.  Everyone is Welcome
Firstly, all are welcome, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, immigration status, social-economic status, education, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age and other physical attributes, family status, political beliefs, religion/spiritual beliefs (or lack thereof), or mental or physical ability.  Networks connecting should adhere to this policy.

2.  Autonomy of Bridged Networks
Providing they adhere to the above, connected networks are free to implement their own policies in addition, which will apply to endpoints that are connected to that specific network.  Endpoints that are permanently bridged to an external network become part of that network.  For your convenience, there are links to each network's Code of Conduct, where they are available, on the Networks page.

Recommendations

Regardless of network specific policies, there are a few things you can do to aid the smooth operation of the network:

Please wait for a second or two after keying up before speaking.  This gives all systems on the network time to key up, before any audio is sent through the system.

Please leave 3-5 second pauses between transmissions.  This is to allow time for the signal to propagate throughout internal links and external networks.  This will allow time for all links to drop, as well allow other stations to break into an existing QSO.

Please avoid bridging to other networks without prior approval from the relevant network admins.  The Australian Multimode Network itself carries many networks, and there are a lot of other large networks around.  It's easy to accidentally create a loop or unmanageable network.  Nodes and gateways that repeatedly create problematic bridges may be banned from the network.

Note that some of the host networks may have specific policies regarding bridging, and in that instance, their policies will be enforced according to the wishes of the network involved (see rule #2 above).

Please identify using your licenced callsign as per your country's rules.

Most of all, enjoy your time on the various connected networks.
